MAMA K: A WELCOMING LOVE

“I am proud of mothering a child who is not my biological son as well as supporting his nutrition and wellbeing with my own earnings.”

Moms come in many forms, and Mama K has opened her heart wide to share her resources.

She was born and raised in Achham, in remote western Nepal. After finishing the 10th grade, she worked with her parents on a farm. At the age of 26, she got married and moved with her husband to Kalikot, where they provided for their two children by farming.

When she moved to Surkhet, she did not have a job but got a chance to enroll in vocational training at the Kopila Valley Women’s Center – since she had become the guardian of her nephew, who is now studying in Grade 10 at Kopila Valley School. K completed a 6-month weaving training 3 years ago, and now she is a pillar of strength financially as well as emotionally for the family.

She holds the domestic responsibilities of mothering three children while also working as a weaver at Kopila Valley Women’s Cooperative and has increased her income. She shares,”I am proud of mothering a child who is not my biological son as well as supporting his nutrition and wellbeing with my own earnings.”

Thank you Mama K, for modeling the power of love for all of us! ❤️
