“When I think of my village, I think of those rugged mountains, fast-flowing rivers, thick wild forests, cuckoos singing, and a small hut that I call home. My wife and children must be peering outside the window at the empty paths, looking forward to my arrival. But the paths toward our home would remain empty, as this lockdown prevents me from going anywhere. So we make do with phone conversations. Talking to them makes me miss the village even more. Especially this springtime, there would be lush greeneries and flowers blooming everywhere. I fondly remember younger days spent there rearing cattle with other farmers. Here at Kopila Valley School, I do the same –taking care of livestock at the vocational site. Recently, our cows gave birth and we now have 15 cows and calves altogether! I couldn’t abandon them at this time of the crisis. So I stayed behind to take care of them.”
