“Just recently, two elderly neighbors sought my help. They were in so much panic and wanted to know the proper way to wear face masks. I helped them with a demonstration and tried my best to calm their fears. I told them the best we can do now is to be responsible by taking precautionary measures – wash our hands, stay at home, and maintain physical distance from other people.
I am a first-year nursing student with big dreams to serve on the medical frontline. At the moment, spreading awareness in my community is all I can do to contribute to the fight against this pandemic. I have so far provided basic awareness to over 40 people in my community and social circle. Although I tell people not to panic, deep down I myself am also frightened.
But my fear is nothing compared to what doctors and nurses working on the frontline are going through. They have taken big health risks and sacrificed a lot to selflessly help others. It’s awe-inspiring to think about how they maintain their composure in such a stressful environment. If I could join them now, I would do so in a heartbeat. But I’ll have to wait. Joining forces with them in the future will be the proudest moment of my life.”
